Ham Radio Deluxe (HRD)
Suite of Windows programs providing CAT control for commonly used transceivers and receivers. HRD also includes mapping, PSK31 software and DM780 (DataManager (new program for data communications)). HRD is free for Radio Amateurs and Shortwave Listener (SWLs).

KC2DWQ's Perl Module
KC2DWQ has written a free perl module for controlling the FT-897 via the CAT interface. You may obtain more information at FT8xxCAT
This is not a fully developed program, instead it is a library so that other developers can quickly and easily develop their own custom software.
- Calibration Dumper is a perl script that uses the module to dump the radio specific alignment data for backup purposes.
- eeprom dumper is a perl script that uses the module to dump the entire eeprom for backup or analysis purposes
IZ5RLS Software
Some free tools to save/edit/restore FT-897 parameters and memories have been developed by IZ5RLS and can be downloaded from his website.
IZ5RLS is also actively working to build a complete map of the FT-897 memory layout. Current findings are published in his website.
